Tips for a Successful Search by Business Name

If you are having trouble finding your business name in the system, try these tips.
1. Use the shortest portion of the name that will help identify it. The text you search on doesn’t have to be unique to your business. Typing a shorter portion will bring up a list of names that you can scan through to find your business. This may give you more success than searching for the entire name, and not finding any exact match.
2. Use just the first word in the name (after “the” or “a”).
-- If your business name is Smith Chevron, search for Smith.
3. Use just the first portion of the first word in the name (after “the” or “a”).
-- If your business name is Oldtown Mill, search for Old.
4. Use only the portion of the name BEFORE any punctuation.
-- If your business name is Red’s Crossing, search for Red.
-- If your business name is Stop-n-Shop, search for Stop.
5. Don’t type “The” or “A” at the beginning.
-- If your business name is The Dew Drop Inn, try Dew Drop Inn, or just Dew Drop.
6. Try alternate spellings, especially if the name contains punctuation marks (&, ‘n, -).
-- If your business name is R&D Market, try R and D, or vice versa.
-- If your business name is 9 - 5 Deli, try 9-5 or 9 to 5.
-- If your business name is 5th Street Market, try Fifth Street.
7. If the name contains initials, try changing the spacing between the letters.
-- If your business name is EZ Stop, try E Z or Stop.
